Within the framework of the project titled “Enhancing Genome Editing and Crop Biotechnology Capacity for Climate-Resilient Agriculture in OIC Member Countries”, being implemented by PAKISTAN (Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab) in partnership with Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, COMSTECH and SESRIC, a four-day training program was held on 22-25 September 2026 in Lahore, Pakistan.
The training program brought together 25 participants, including researchers, academics, and government officials, as well as young scientists from OIC Member Countries for technical capacity building, scientific exchange, networking and the development of future research collaborations in agricultural biotechnology.
The program, comprising expert lectures, interactive discussions, hands-on laboratory sessions and a field component, focused on strengthening capacity in modern plant biotechnology and CRISPR-based genome editing—particularly the application of CRISPR/Cas9, Cas12a/Cpf1 and Cas13 systems for crop improvement, climate-resilient agriculture and food security.
