Within the framework of the project titled “Capacity Building on Adopting Water-Smart Agricultural Techniques for Paddy Production in Malaysia (2025-MYSAGRIC-359)”, a peer-to-peer experience sharing study visit to Egypt was organized.

The visit aimed to strengthen technical knowledge and facilitate knowledge sharing in agricultural water management, rice production and mechanization. In this context, Malaysian experts visited the Rice Research and Training Centre (RRTC), Field Crops Research Institute (FCRI), Soil Water and Environment Research Institute (SWERI), Agricultural Engineering Research Institute (AEnRI/AGERI), Water Management Research institute (WMRI) and selected rice production areas and research facilities.

During the program, numerous technical discussions and field observations were conducted on water-saving rice production technologies, alternate wetting and drying (AWD), laser land levelling, irrigation and water management practices, and the evaluation of rice varieties suitable for water-limited environments. The program also provided opportunities for sharing Malaysia’s experiences in efficient agricultural water management and exploring potential areas for research collaboration.
