The 42nd Meeting of the Follow-up Committee of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) was held in Ankara.

The Meeting was attended by Türkiye, the Permanent Chair of COMCEC, as well as the members of the Follow-up Committee, namely Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, The Gambia, Pakistan, Qatar, Brunei Darussalam and Senegal, together with the relevant OIC institutions.

During the Meeting, participants reviewed the projects and cooperation activities carried out under the auspices of COMCEC since the 41st COMCEC Ministerial Session, as well as the items on the COMCEC agenda. They also formulated draft recommendations to be submitted to the 42nd COMCEC Ministerial Session, which will be held in Istanbul on 31 October–3 November, and prepared the draft agenda of the upcoming Ministerial Session.

The Meeting underlined the importance of the Palestinian cause and emphasized the need to provide humanitarian and economic support to Palestine. In this regard, Islamic countries were called upon to continue providing all necessary support. The Committee also drew attention to the significance of the 28 projects completed under the COMCEC Al-Quds Program and the 10 projects to be implemented this year.

The Committee welcomed the launch this year of the “COMCEC Syria Program” with five projects. The Program, adopted at the 41st COMCEC Ministerial Session, aims to contribute to strengthening human and institutional capacity in Syria and revitalizing the country’s economic life.

In addition, the Meeting addressed the latest developments regarding COMCEC’s major programs and projects, particularly the Trade Preferential System among the OIC Member States (TPS-OIC), the OIC Arbitration Centre and COMCEC Project Funding. The Meeting concluded with the closing session held on 13 May 2026.
