The 27th Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held in Ankara on 16–17 September 2026 under the theme “Impacts of Climate Change and Mitigation Strategies for Sustainable OIC Tourism”.
In addition to delegations from Member Countries, representatives of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) Ankara Office, and Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) attended the meeting.
Representatives of member countries and organizations exchanged information regarding the impacts of climate change in OIC member countries, related mitigation strategies, as well as successful practices, and the challenges encountered in this field. The final draft of the Report prepared on the subject and country case studies were also presented. Participants discussed ways to overcome the challenges in this field and how efforts and strategies could be further developed. Furthermore, Policy Recommendations were formulated regarding the impacts of climate change and mitigation strategies for sustainable tourism in Member Countries to be submitted to the 42nd COMCEC Ministerial Session.
