The Fifth Meeting of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation Working Group was held on February 26th, 2015 in Crowne Plaza Hotel Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Activation Policies for the Poor in the OIC Member States”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 16 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Poverty Alleviation Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Benin, Cameroon, Egypt, Gambia, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Niger, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), World Bank Ankara Office and Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC), İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Art and Vocational Training Courses (İSMEK) have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, best practices, challenges and policy implementations in increasing the efficiency of the activation programmes and policies in the COMCEC Member Countries. The Meeting has considered the Studies namely “Activation Policies for the Poor in the OIC Member States” and “COMCEC Poverty Outlook 2014 -Revised Edition” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 5th Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held on February 12th, 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Evaluating the Ownership, Governance Structures and Performances of the Ports in the OIC Member States”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 11 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Transport and Communications Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Morocco, Mozambique, Saudi Arabia, Suriname and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), SESRIC, Organization of Islamic Shipowners’ Association (OISA), UNCTAD, Drewry Shipping Consultants, Hogia Transport Systems as well as some other guests have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in increasing port efficiency in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Evaluating the Ownership, Governance Structures and Performances of the Ports in the OIC Member States” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and the “COMCEC Transport Outlook 2014-Revised Edition” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 5th Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held on February 5th , 2015 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Travel Facilitation for Enhancing Mobility in the OIC Member Countries”

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 10 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Tourism Working Group namely, Gambia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC, Islamic Center for Development of Trade (ICDT), World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), International Air Transport Association (IATA) as well as representatives from private sector and some other guests have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in travel facilitation in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Travel Facilitation for Enhancing Mobility in the OIC Member Countries” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and the “COMCEC Tourism Outlook 2014- Revised Edition” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.
