The 9th Meeting of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation Working Group was held on April 6th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Malnutrition in the OIC Member Countries: A Trap for Poverty”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 15 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Poverty Alleviation Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Algeria, Gabon, Gambia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, Tunisia and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, IDB, SESRIC, UNICEF and World Health Organization (WHO) have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in reducing malnutrition in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Malnutrition in the OIC Member Countries: A Trap for Poverty” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and the “COMCEC Poverty Outlook 2016” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 8th Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group was held on March 30th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Improving Public Debt Management in the OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 19 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Financial Cooperation Working Group. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, IDB, SESRIC, World Bank, OECD, IIFM, Secretariat of OIC Member States’ Stock Exchanges Forum and Secretariat of the COMCEC Capital Markets Regulators Forum have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in public debt management in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Study “Improving Public Debt Management in the OIC Member Countries” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and the “COMCEC Financial Outlook 2016” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The 9th Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group was held on March 16th, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Increasing Broadband Internet Penetration in the OIC Member Countries”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 12 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Transport and Communications Working Group namely; Egypt, Gabon, The Gambia, Guinea, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Turkey. Representatives of the Orange, Türk Telekom, Turkcell, Vodafone and COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in the field of broadband internet penetration in their respective countries. Additionally, the issue of policies that can be implemented to increase broadband penetration was discussed. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Increasing Broadband Internet Penetration in the OIC Member Countries” and the “COMCEC Transport and Communications Outlook 2016” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 26 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Trade Working Group. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, ICDT, SESRIC, SMIIC, ITFC, WCO, UNESCAP and UND have also attended the Meeting.
