New: The COMCEC Working Groups will elaborate on the impacts of Covid-19 on the three important sectors namely agriculture, tourism, and trade through the virtual consultations meetings to be held in June-July 2020 period. The meetings will provide important opportunities to:

  • discuss the current and potential future impacts of the pandemic on these critical sectors,
  • exchange expertise and good practices among the member countries,
  • deliberate cooperation opportunities based on the needs and experiences of the member countries.

Taking into consideration the worsening situation regarding the global coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and WHO’s decision on March 11, 2020 to declare this outbreak as a pandemic, it has been decided to postpone COMCEC Meetings in this period (36th Follow-up Committee Meeting,  15th Round of Working Group Meetings and 7th Project Call Training Meeting)  to later convenient dates. The new dates of the postponed meetings will be announced in due course.

As the  COMCEC family, we wish for all the World a safe and healthy future. We sincerely believe that the international community through timely precautions, concerted efforts, intense cooperation and solidarity can overcome this pandemic at the earliest

The COMCEC Coordination Office has completed the evaluations of projects submitted under the 7th Call for Project Proposals and announced the final-list of the successful projects of the 2020 implementation period.

To commence the project implementation period, the next phase is the signature of the contract with the Development and Investment Bank of Turkey. The details regarding the procedures are already sent to each project owner through e-mail.

On the other hand, during the evaluation process, the CCO identified a number of project proposals which it would have admitted if there had been additional financial means in the 2020 implementation period. In this sense, the CCO has established a waiting list for those project proposals.

The CCO is unable to offer financing for these project proposal at this time, but a financing may become available later in April, 2020. The CCO will have a better idea of these project’s prospects for financing in late April, after the final listed project owners have responded to CCO’s offer by completing the signature procedures of the Financial and Operational Contract. The CCO will notify wait-listed project owners if any of the final-listed project owners would or could not complete the signing procedures of the Contract.
