The 2nd Meeting of the COMCEC Tourism Working Group was held on October 3rd, 2013 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Tourism Product Development and Marketing Strategies in the COMCEC Region.”

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 11 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Tourism Working Group namely, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Malaysia, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Turkey. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, SESRIC, Islamic Center for Development of Trade (ICDT), representatives from private sector and some other guests have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in tourism product development and marketing strategies in their respective countries. The Meeting has considered the Studies “Tourism Product Development and Marketing Strategies in the COMCEC Region” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and the “COMCEC Tourism Outlook 2013” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The First Meeting of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation Working Group was held on June 27th, 2013 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Enhancing Productive Capacity of the Poor in the COMCEC Member Countries: Improving Human Capital”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 13 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Poverty Alleviation Working Group namely, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Benin, Cameroon, Egypt, Gambia, Indonesia, Jordan, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Suriname and Turkey. Representatives of the COMCEC Coordination Office, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey, SESRIC, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH) and some other guests have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences in enhancing the productive capacity of the poor particularly through improving human capital. The Meeting has considered the Studies entitled “Enhancing Productive Capacity of the Poor in the COMCEC Member Countries: Improving Human Capital” commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office to the UNDP Turkey and the “COMCEC Poverty Outlook 2013” prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The First Meeting of the COMCEC Trade Working Group was held on June 20th, 2013 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Promoting the Exports of the SMEs in the OIC Member States: The Role of Trade Promotion Organizations”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 19 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Trade Working Group namely, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mali, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Turkey and Uganda. Representatives of COMCEC Coordination Office, Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and International Trade Centre (ITC) have also attended the Meeting.

The Representatives of the Member States have shared their experiences, achievements and challenges in promoting the SMEs exports in their respective countries. The First Meeting of the COMCEC Transport Working Group was held on March 28th, 2013 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme of “Transport Infrastructure Financing Modalities: Public Private Partnerships in the OIC Member States”.

The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 13 Member States, which have notified their focal points for the Transport Working Group namely, Bahrain, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Senegal, Turkey and Uganda. The 3rd Meeting of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group was held on April 3rd, 2014 with the theme of “Improving the Statistical Capacity of the Agriculture Sector in the COMCEC Region.”
